What is kinesiology tape?
A thin, stretchy cotton tape with a gentle adhesive, applied directly to the skin. It's the colourful tape you may have seen on athletes. It moves with you, so you can carry on with your day as normal.
What happens
Ismail cleans and dries the area and applies the tape in strips. He'll show you how it should look and tell you how long to keep it on, usually a few days.
Living with the tape
- You can shower with it on; pat it dry afterwards.
- Take it off slowly, in the direction the hair grows, holding the skin down as you go. Baby oil helps.
- Remove it straight away if your skin itches, stings or reddens.
Where it fits in your care
Taping is used alongside chiropractic care, soft tissue work and exercises, never on its own.
Is it right for you?
At your first home visit Ismail asks about your health and history and carries out a thorough assessment before suggesting any treatment. He explains what he would like to do and why, and only goes ahead with your consent. If a technique isn't suitable for you, he'll say so and suggest another option, or recommend you see your GP.
