Chiropractic adjustments, at home

Hands-on chiropractic care on a proper treatment bench, set up in your living room.

What is an adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment is a quick, controlled movement that a chiropractor applies to a joint, usually by hand. You may hear a click as it happens: that's a small release of gas from the joint, not bones moving out of place.

The techniques Ismail uses

  • Adjustments by hand (Diversified). The most widely taught chiropractic technique.
  • Activator. A gentle, hand-held instrument, for people who would rather not have a manual adjustment.
  • Drop-piece (Thompson) technique. Uses sections of the treatment bench that drop slightly as the adjustment is made.
  • Gentle mobilisation. Slower movements of a joint through its range, when an adjustment isn't the right choice.

What happens at your visit

Adjustments are part of treatment visits, after your initial home visit and report of findings. Ismail positions you on the bench, explains what he's about to do, and checks you're comfortable before each step. You can ask him to stop at any time.

Is it right for you?

At your first home visit Ismail asks about your health and history and carries out a thorough assessment before suggesting any treatment. He explains what he would like to do and why, and only goes ahead with your consent. If a technique isn't suitable for you, he'll say so and suggest another option, or recommend you see your GP.

Questions

Do adjustments hurt?

Most people feel a brief pressure and sometimes hear a click. Some feel a little stiff for a day or so afterwards. Tell Ismail if anything feels uncomfortable and he will adapt or stop.

Do I have to be adjusted?

No. Ismail always asks for your consent, and there are gentler options such as Activator and mobilisation.
